Classes and Schedule

Science

Age Requirements
3's:Class: Children must be three by December 1st of the year of entrance.

4's class: Children must be four by December 1st of the year of entrance.

Children are required to be potty trained.

The school runs for two 16-week semesters, September-May. The school's holiday and break schedule coincides with the Ann Arbor Public Schools' calendar. Both classes meet Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The 3's class meets 9:00 - 11:30 a.m., and the 4's class meets 12:45 - 3:15 p.m.

The School Day

The daily curriculum balances structured activities with ample opportunity for free play. Activities include circle times, art projects, story time, music, snack, outdoor play and periodic field trips.

  • Wild Swan Theater
  • Exploration Station (St. Joseph's Hospital)
  • Cobblestone Farm
  • Real Life Farm

Facilities

The Ann Arbor Co-op's physical space is one of its greatest assets. The space consists of two large, connected rooms (called the "Quiet" and "Noisy" Rooms). All children have the opportunity to play in both rooms during the day.

The Quiet Room offers a wide variety of activities designed to develop children's fine motor and imaginative play skills, including:

  • Puzzles, games, other fine-motor manipulatives
  • Art easel and various writing/drawing/cutting supplies
  • Pets
  • Tactile table
  • Lending library
  • Dress-up bags

The Noisy Room contains toys and equipment that promote gross motor development, such as:

  • Climber with slide, tunnels, blocks
  • Train table
  • Dress-up/housekeeping corner
  • Tricycles
  • Balls
  • Puppet theater

The outdoor play space has lots of room to run!
